The company DABATEATR and the British Council are organizing, from 20 to 24 February 2012 in Rabat, the international project "Forward Motion" a training workshop on the set of contemporary dance show followed by a screening of films from the formation.
In this context, dancers, choreographers and filmmakers will participate in a training workshop organized for five days at the Mohamed V Theatre under the theme "dance for film." The workshop will be run by Isabel Rocamora, British choreographer and video artist.
The experiment will be closed on 24 February by the public screening of the film "ARTISTS 'CHOICE" in addition to four short films made during the workshop, and at 18h in the Gerard Philippe room of the French Institute in Rabat.
Organized as part of LA3BODABA, new monthly event DABATEATR, Forward Motion seeks to promote the sharing of knowledge and artistic skills between Morocco and the United Kingdom.
Forward Motion
Forward Motion is a collection of 20 dance films selected historical and revolutionary by many experts, and co-produced by the British Council with South East Dance in Britain. The project aims to create a bridge across the temporal history of the dance industry in Britain and present it to the general public. The films are accompanied by testimonials and interviews with big names in British contemporary dance and experimental.
Forward Motion The first program was launched between 2000 and 2004 in over 25 countries. Forward Motion is designed for public screenings and events abroad, in order to engage artists, dancers, directors and various hearings in this unique experience of dance to experimental film.
Isabel Rocamora
British filmmaker and choreographer Isabel Rocamora carries out audio-visual facilities, cinema and arts presenters. Isabel studied realization and production for film at the University of Bristol in the UK, the Maine Film workshops in the United States, as well as training in Butoh dance with Master Daisuke Yoshimoto.
As co-artistic director of the Momentary Fusion-Aerial Dance Theatre (1993 - 2000), and artistic director of Infinito Productions (2000 - present), Isabel Rocamora has directed and choreographed plays and media productions, and participated in world tours often organized by the British Council (Europe, Asia, USA, South Africa).
Nationally, Isabel has produced work for institutions such as Bluecoat Arts Centre and the Victoria and Albert Museum.
Rocamora's films were presented in many festivals, film libraries and museums around the world and broadcast on NPS, Channel 4, Arte TV and TV Catalonia.
His film "Horizon of Exile" received the IMZ, The Hague 2007, and an honorary award at the Festival Dance Camera West in Los Angeles in 2008, and was recently published in a collection of DVDs as part of Forward Motion, a collaborative project between South East Dance and the British Council.
